Steenburg United were the only Kaapse team to collect maximum points in the GladAfrica Championship last weekend.
The reigning Safa Western Cape ABC Motsepe League champions made the most of their home advantage in Athlone, beating Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) 2-0 to move up to 10th place.
They have a busy week ahead with two matches in the space of three days, with Nedbank Cup champions TS Galaxy coming to visit on Wednesday.
Steenberg then travel to Mbombela United on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Ajax Cape Town’s defensive struggles continued to be their downfall as they were defeated 3-2 away against Swallows at Dobsonville Stadium.
The Urban Warriors dropped to third place and will be hoping for a better performance on the road against TS Sporting on Saturday.
Cape Umoya United returned from Goble Park with an injured player and a 0-0 draw against Free State Stars.
They are now 11th in the standings and will next welcome Royal Eagles at Athlone Stadium on Friday.
