It was a weekend of mixed results for the Cape clubs in the Glad Africa Championship.
Steenberg United did not play because their match against TS Galaxy was postponed because the Nedbank Cup champions had a Caf Confed Cup match.
Ajax Cape Town drew their match against Mbombela United 1-1 in the extremely hot conditions away at Kanyamazane Stadium on Sunday. The Urban Warriors got an early goal through a Rodrick Kabwe, but they they ran out of steam and allowed the home side to get the equaliser.
There were celebrations at Athlone Stadium on Friday, after Cape Umoya United registered their first win of the new season.
Gregory Roelf scored late in the second half for the 1-0 win over the newly reformed Swallows.
This weekend sees Steenberg United kicking off the action for the Cape sides when they host TS Sporting at Athlone Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Ajax Cape Town will also play their match at Athlone Stadium the next day when they welcome Uthongathi, while Cape Umoya will be away at Umhlathuze Sports Complex to visit Richards Bay.
All matches kick off at 3pm.
