It wasn’t a good weekend for Cape Town sides in the NFD Qualification Competition for the Nedbank Cup last 32.
Cape Umoya was the only club to progress, beating TS Sporting 4-2 on penalties after regulation time ended 1-1.
Ajax Cape Town and Ubuntu Cape Town were the worst of the lot, losing 5-2 to TS Galaxy and 3-0 to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila respectively.
Meanwhile, league leaders Stellenbosch can now just focus on the league campaign, after losing 4-2 on penalties to Mbombela United, following a 0-0 after regulation time.
The league resumes this week, with Ajax Cape Town hosting AmaTuks at Athlone Stadium today.
Umoya welcome Uthongathi FC to Boland Stadium, while Ubuntu travels away to face Witbank Spurs at Puma Stadium. Both matches will be played on Saturday afternoon.
Stellenbosch will continue their push for promotion as they look to avenge the Cape Town teams’ struggles against TS Galaxy away at Kameelrivier Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
