It’s that time of the season when two or three games can decide your destiny, can create history or… absolutely nothing.
A whole season resting on a few outings. Are they up for it? Is the squad equipped? Is the pressure starting to crack the momentum?
Well, right now it’s looking like Chelsea are falling victim to all of the above. But… I don’t think so, though.
A win tonight against Leicester will change the course of the season and there’s still the possibility of the all-important Champions League trophy being paraded down the Fulham Road.
The 1-0 loss against Arsenal was horrible – 90 minutes of control, one bizarre goal and the woodwork playing a part.
But the Blues weren’t clinical enough in breaking down the red double-decker bus Mikel Arteta parked at Stamford Bridge.
As for the FA Cup. I’m really pissed off on the one hand and OK on the other. Ok, because as y’all know, I hate the modern money game and Leicester winning it maintains some hope for those outside the Billionaire Boys Club.
P!ssed off, because I love Thomas Tuchel. He’s worked magic in his short time at Chelsea, BUT HOW THE F**K DOES HE START HAKIM ZIYECH? He’s k@@@k.
Well, he may have great potential and he was decent at Ajax, but he’s just a pathetic version of Riyad Mahrez. I hate his attitude. He has that air of “I’m really great” about him, but he’s lazy, weak and plays with no grit or determination.
As soon as I saw the starting line-up, I messaged a mate in London to say “not confident anymore”. I know there’ll be those of you who’ll say “you can’t blame one player”, but the truth is, he unbalanced us, was repeatedly out of position and did f**k all. Was just shocked he stayed on for 70 minutes.
But worse was to come (as in the Arsenal loss) Tuchel brought on Olivier Giroud. I mean, those days of pushing a big geezer in the box to get on the end of a cross barely exist anymore, even at Burnley.
He ain’t got the legs or the speed of mind to be playing alongside the likes of Jorginho, Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic.
Annnnywaaaaay… I guess the big news otherwise has to be the sudden emergence of Liverpool.
They looked great at Manchester United last week and suddenly find themselves from nowhere to a good chance of making a Champions League spot.
Results have aligned themselves perfectly and even boss Jurgen Klopp has that beaming keyboard smile again!
Mind you, I would as well following the 95th minute winner at West Brom. Season was dead, ref should have blown for full-time before the corner was taken and up pops Alisson unmarked, with a superb headed finish to seal the points.
I still find it amazing how a team’s performance levels dip so dramatically in a matter of days. They crushed United last Thursday, looking like Liverpool of last season, but against the relegated Baggies struggled to put the game to bed?
The Reds finish the season against Burnley and Crystal Palace, which on paper should be straightforward wins, but after Sunday who knows what’s gonna happen?
The storyline shall be a bit clearer following tonight’s clash at the Bridge… Man, talk about “squeaky bum time”. You gotta love it!
On a more serious note, we are entering the ‘third wave’… Lets stay diligent people, mask up, keep your distance and wash dem handies! Chat next week.
