Bafana Bafana midfielder Ethan Brooks is desperate to score his maiden international goal.
And the 20-year-old hopes he can hit the back of the net when South Africa take on Ethiopia in tomorrow’s 3pm 2022 World Cup qualifier clash in Bahir Dar.
The TS Galaxy star made his debut in June this year against Uganda and helped the national team win the Cosafa Cup in July.
And with Bafana looking to take control of Group G and build on their top spot, Brooks is keen to get on the scoresheet.
Set to win a seventh cap in coach Hugo Broos’ 10th game in charge, he says: “I do a lot of video analysis of my game.
“And for me I’d like to contribute with goals. If not goals, assists, and contributing to the team getting goals.”
Brooks could link up with Mamelodi Sundowns striker Thabiso Kutumela, who has been at the centre of a club versus country row after his Covid-19 vaccination was scheduled for Monday by the club despite it being during the international break.
A furious coach Broos had warned that the player was at risk of suffering side effects, but he has been cleared to travel with the team following reports that he had been withdrawn from the squad.
The Belgian clarified: “I said clearly that because he was vaccinated, that the risk was there that he could have symptoms. I was anxious and I can say that he is staying with us.”
Ghana host Zimbabwe tomorrow at 6pm in the group’s other match.
