Cape Town City boss Benni McCarthy wants his midfielders to boss Kaizer Chiefs if they want to take top spot in the PSL.
With rain forecast for the match at Newlands on Tuesday evening, a slick pitch is just what City need to play their fast-passing game. And McCarthy wants to make Chiefs stars’ visit to the Mother City as uncomfortable as possible.
He says: “They [Chiefs] have good players in their midfield, so it will make for good viewing; Thato Mokeke, Abbubaker Mobara, Mpho Makola against George Maluleka, Bernard Parker and Lebo Manyama. Those are the players you don’t want to take your eyes off.
“The team that dominates there is going to have some success.
“We’ll have a slick pitch – that’s how we like it.

“We are playing at night and it might rain a little bit.
“So that will be great for us because the Joburg team don’t like that.”
With both teams on unbeaten runs and playing good football, McCarthy expects his manne to pick up where they left off in their away draw against champions Mamelodi Sundowns last Tuesday.

He believes margins will be tight after Amakhosi’s 1-1 stalemate with SuperSport United at the weekend.
Ernst Middendorp’s Sowetans had dominated the game until letting United back in the last 10 minutes.
And McCarthy wants to see total focus from his team to maintain their unbeaten start.
He says: “We can’t play them at a better after our promising game against Sundowns.
“It’s going to be a game where you can’t play for just 80-85 minutes, you have to play until the final whistle.”
Tuesday’s other PSL fixture:
- Highlands Park v Amazulu (7.30pm).
