Benni McCarthy is worried his players will not give their all when Cape Town City host Maritzburg at Cape Town Stadium on Friday evening (8pm).
After pushing PSL leaders Kaizer Chiefs all the way to penalties in last Saturday’s Telkom Knockout exit, the challenge is to keep that same hunger.
Coach McCarthy realises that his team raised their game for the high-profile fixture, but is concerned they won’t lift their levels now.
But he warns, that just like the Cup game they played last week, they are in a do-or-die situation down in 10th in the league with just one win after eight games.

He says: “For us, there can be no droppings of anything, because the next game is a league game and where we are in the league means every game is a Cup final. So that’s the danger that we face having a Chiefs game and then Maritzburg.”
Meanwhile, City are waiting to hear if there will be further sanctions for Mpho Makola after he only received a yellow card for pushing the referee last Saturday’s TKO clash against Kaizer Chiefs.
