Reunited and it feels so good for Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United.
CR7 marked his return to Old Trafford with a double on his second debut for the club and the Portuguese is sniffing more than goals – he says United have the gees to win titles with him back.
After threatening Newcastle’s goal for most of the first half, the 36-year-old showed all his experience to be at the right place at the right time to tap in Mason Greenwood’s parried shot in first-half extra time.
And the place erupted with a roared “Siu” as the ace celebrated in trademark style.
Even though the Magpies hit back in the 56th minute through Javier Manquillo, Ron fired United ahead again six minutes later when he smashed a left-foot strike through the keeper’s legs.
Bruno Fernandes netted a long-range stunner and Jesse Lingard finished off a classy move as Ronaldo completed the perfect comeback.
And with United top of the log after four games and stepping out into the
Champions League tomorrow, the goal machine believes they can compete for alles.
He says: “As I told you before, we have huge potential.
“We have fantastic players, a good coach, a good team. We need to build up the mentality to win the Premier League and even the Champions League.
“So I am here to help the team. I think we have the 11 that are playing and those on the bench that can help as well.
“We have a good team, as I told you, and the spirit is there.”
