Manchester United icon Alex Ferguson reportedly stepped in for under-fire coach Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and saved his job… for now at least.
Fans are baying for Solskjaer’s blood after last Sunday’s humiliating 5-0 defeat to Liverpool.
And apparently Solskjaer’s players are also dik of their mentor, with defender Eric Bailly rumoured to have hit out at his coach in the dressing room after the match for “playing a defender that wasn’t fit” in the match. Captain Harry Maguire, who played alongside Victor Lindelof, had recently returned from a calf injury.
But while fans and possibly his players have had enough of the Norwegian, his mentor Sir Alex staan by sy man.
Even the great Scot Fergie looked like he could bars into trane when the cameras caught the former coach puffing out his cheeks and skudding his kop after Liverpool scored their final goal in Sunday’s historic 5-0 mauling by Liverpool at Old Trafford.
But according to contributor to the UK’s Guardian newspaper Fabrizio Romano, Solskjaer will live to fight another day.
He tweets: “Manchester United internal talks.
“Main part of board [Sir Alex Ferguson too] wants to give Solskjaer another chance to be in charge for Tottenham game. Pressure still high around Ole.”

Pressure still high around Ole. No official talks with Antonio Conte - but he’d accept the job in the next days too. pic.twitter.com/Z5pPEfp7GG
He added that former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte, would be ready to take the United job if it became available.
