The Stormers have three matches left to play in this year’s round robin phase of the Super Rugby competition.
A bye this weekend, their next match is against defending champions the Crusaders the following week at Newlands.
After that, they host the Highlanders before finishing their season at Ellis Park against the Lions.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, while it feels like they never really lifted off this year, the season is almost done and dusted for coach Robbie Fleck and his men.
Trailing South African Conference leaders the Bulls by four log points, there is still every chance that the Stormers can make the playoffs.
But in order to do that, they simply have to win their remaining fixtures.
And that starts with the match against the Crusaders.
The New Zealanders have a home away from home when they come to the Mother City and will look forward to playing at Newlands.
On form, and with all their All Blacks in the team, it’s not expected that they will go down to the hosts.
What might determine the outcome of the match is the crowd support.
With the Crusaders enjoying a lot of support in Cape Town, it will be interesting to see who gets the jeers and cheers next week.
So while the Stormers have a giant to slay on the pitch, they now need the Stormers faithful more than ever in this encounter.
It will make for some interesting viewing.
