Cape Town comes to a standstill tonight in an attempt to set a new attendance record for a tennis match at Cape Town Stadium.
On the “Match in Africa” menu is a sold-out clash between two legends – Spain’s Rafael Nadal and Switzerland’s Roger Federer… and Trevor Noah and Bill Gates.
Federer will team up with Gates to face Nadal and Noah in a doubles match at 7.30pm, with the main match between Nadal and Federer starting at 8.30pm.
With 50 000 people expected, it will smash the former record attendance of 42 517 set in Mexico when Federer and Alexander Zverev squared off.
COMING TO SA: Rafa Nadal
Of the match, Federer says: “For me, it was only Rafa who could make this event truly special for the people here, because I have the connection to Rafa.
“I thought if maybe somebody could bring him down to South Africa then it’s me.
“I asked him and he said yes right away. We’ve been fighting over a date for the last two years. I finally got one out of him.”
SuperSport 1 will cross to the venue for the build-up at 6.30pm on Friday.
