The Cape’s NFD clubs are keeping their cards close to their chest ahead of the new season.
Cape Umoya had to make changes to their arrangements for open trials because of the high demand.
They were initially supposed to host the open trials from Monday, 24 June until Friday the 28th.
Instead, the Old Mutual-based team split the groups into foreigners and those that are from outside of Cape Town.
This is the group that was put through their paces on Monday.
On Wednesday, the local boys and the few that might have not made it on Monday will get their chance to impress.
Preseason officially begins on Monday, 1 July.
It’s still unclear if Ajax Cape Town will return to the NFD, with the latest rumours suggesting they are now engaging Chippa United about buying their PSL status.
Altogether 11 players have left Ikamva with Brandon Petersen and Prince Nxumalo joining Wits, Harold Majadibodu returning to his parent club Mamelodi Sundowns.
Meanwhile Raymond Monama, Tashreeq Morris, Sibusiso Khumalo, Samuel Julies, Thamsanqa Teyise, Sirgio Kammies, Guy Bedi, Thomas Verhaar and Shuaib Walters all leave following the expiration of their contracts.
They have promoted Bongolwethu Siyasi, Asanele Velebhayi, Chumani Butsaka and Dale Wakefield from their youth development structures.
