Danie Craven Stadium is the venue where Maties will probably be crowned champions of the Western Province Super League A this Saturday.
In need of a bonus-point win against already-relegated Primrose to secure the title this week, Maties look good value for money to reclaim the trophy they lost to False Bay last season.
While the Stellenbosch students have been on a roll this season, Primrose will be saying au revoir to the Super League A on Saturday.
After a tough season, their relegation was confirmed when they went down narrowly to SK Walmers 24-17 last weekend.
And heading into the final weekend of the league season, Primrose have nothing but pride left to play for.
That pride will be tough to find against a Maties team that has simply steamrolled their way to the title this year in scintillating fashion.
And another three-figure score for the hosts is certainly a possibility.
While Primrose still have one final sip of being a top-flight club, Pniel
Villagers will be happy that their season is over.
In 14 matches, they failed to register a single win and conceded an average of 57 points difference per game – a clear indication of the gulf in class between some of the teams in the league.
There was further evidence of this when Maties klapped Parow NTK 125-10 at their home ground last weekend.
Battling NTK, though, once again survived automatic relegation and will finish the season third from bottom.
Coach Wilbur Kraak’s team will, therefore, use their trip to Brackenfell on Saturday as preparation for the promotion/relegation clash at the end of the season against the team that finishes in third place in Super League B.
Tygerberg, meanwhile, will look to hang onto their fourth place when they travel to Victorians on Saturday.
Maties’ second-stringers were also in action against UCT last night.
A win for Ikeys in that encounter would have set up a thrilling finish for the race to fourth place on the weekend.
Still, the Tiere know they have their destiny in their own hands and can seal fourth spot with a win.
Ikeys, meanwhile, will fancy their chances against SK Walmers, meaning the pressure will be on Tygerberg if UCT won last night.
Then there’s UniMil – this season’s Cinderella team.
Already assured of a seventh-place finish, they will look to give their fans more reason to smile when they host UWC in Milnerton this
weekend.
