Hamiltons facing Villager is a big one on the Cape club rugby calendar.
And on Saturday, fans who haven’t yet experienced this age-old rivalry between two of the oldest rugby clubs in South Africa have the chance to do so at Hamiltons in Green Point.
Billed as a friendly derby, there will be nothing friendly about competing for the log points on offer this week.
Hamiltons are hurt after they suffered a 23-16 defeat to False Bay last weekend.
Claremont based Villager, meanwhile, know they are in for a tough afternoon, having suffered a groot 42-0 defeat to Durbell in their season opener.
So while the derby will have a great historic feel to it, Hammies are expected to open their win account.
But don’t write off the underdog just yet.
As much was true when Brackenfell beat Tygerberg 36-19 last weekend.
Not expected to beat the Tiere even at their home ground the Brakke showed some bite.
Heading into their clash against St Georges this weekend, coach Thinus van Rensburg’s side look a solid unit on defence.
Of the surprise win over the Tiere, he says: “It’s our third year in Super League A and we’ve never managed to beat Tygerberg.
“We are targeting a top six spot this year and I think it’s the first time in years that we’ve beaten a top five side.
“Hopefully we can continue in that vein.”

Of the upcoming battle against St Georges, he says: “They are quite similar in approach to Tygerberg they like to play with width.
“In this league, every game is a challenge and you have to take it step by step.”
As for Tygerberg, they host Parow NTK this weekend in another local derby.
The Ravensmead outfit looked toothless on attack against Brackenfell’s rush defence last weekend and this is certainly an area which Parow will look to exploit.
On a high after beating Belhar last weekend, the visitors will fancy their chances against their hosts.
But at Florida Park, Tygerberg is a different beast and will be looking to give their faithful a warm welcome to the season.
At Durbanville Sports Ground, one of hosts Durbell or visitors UniMil will lose their unbeaten status in 2018.
While Durbell easily got the better of Villager, UniMil proved that they are still on the rise, beating league newcomers St Georges 21-17.
The final fixture sees False Bay hosting Belhar in what looks like an early-season mismatch.
Belhar surprisingly lost to NTK last weekend at their home ground and will undoubtedly enter the Philip Herbstein clash as underdogs.
