We already know that drinking and driving causes trauma, death and damage to the family and wider community, but Bobby wonders if it has ever occurred to you that drinking and driving actually helps criminals. That’s right it, in fact, assists boewe in doing their dirty deeds.
Everything has consequences, like when you up the engine power the gearbox comes under strain. Likewise, people who drive drunk put a strain on our police force. Traffic officers who we need to combat congestion in our cities, get tied up trying to combat drunk drivers. Police are called to the scene when a drunk driver makes an accident.
In short, drinking and driving diverts police resources away from protecting our communities.
And it goes on. The money spent on cleaning up the mess after some fool has made an accident runs into the tens of millions. That’s good cash that could be spent on schools and houses. Then, what about the medical staff, the nurses and doctors who are asked to spend the day in court testifying because of people who choose to drink and drive? Those medical personnel would be better value if they could be in hospital looking after the sick.
Yes, the choices you make have consequences, and they go far beyond what you might think. Drunk driving clogs up our justice system, wastes the time of much-need nurses, and wastes public cash resources. Is it not time to put a stop to this? The change begins with you.
