Police have opened a case of assault against a 16-year-old schoolgirl who was caught on camera beating up another pupil at school.
In the 38-second video, the girl is seen smacking, kicking and pulling the hair of a meisie who doesn’t retaliate.
The principal of Beacon Hill Secondary in Beacon Valley, Mitchells Plain, confirmed that there will be a disciplinary hearing this week.
The cellphone video, which was filmed on Thursday, has gone viral on social media.
The video begins with the victim walking out of a classroom and suddenly being smacked in the face by the attacker.
The 16-year-old victim runs back into a classroom and is pursued by the bully.
Later, the victim is confronted in the quad where she is smacked around and viciously beaten.
The girl is kicked, kneed in her stomach and repeatedly hit on the head.
A security guard and a school boy break up the fight, in which the victim doesn’t fight back before the video ends.
The victim, who is in Grade 10, claims she and the bully were friends in primary school but drifted apart when they started high school.
She claims the girl had been bullying her for four years and threatens her with gangsters.
“She has been saying she will send the “agge” (28s gang) for me and I was too scared to tell a teacher,” the meisie said on Monday.
“On Thursday when we came out of a classroom, I turned back when she smacked me and she hit me again in the quad. I told her not to hit me.
“She calls me names daily saying I am a “* ***kop and that I suck the boys’ d****.
“When I cut my hair, she said I am keeping me j**. I don’t even know why she attacked me.”
The teen’s 38-year-old mother says she immediately went to the school and the police station after seeing the video on Friday.
“This is my only child, this is very hurtful. Meetings are to have taken place (last) night with the governing body.”
The family was supported by members of the Protect Our Children organisation.
However, the bully claims the victim started the fight.

“I walked behind her last week and she said ‘ hier loop die ding weer, vir haar gaan ek m***.
“The friends said ‘why don’t you kick her in her * ***’.
“So I just went to her and started hitting her because she said she is going to m*** me first.
“It wasn’t nice what I did, but she made me kwaad.”
Principal Gregory Kannemeyer says meetings with the girls, their parents and the SGB will be held this week. He says pupils were not allowed to bring cellphones to school.
“I am very sorry for what happened. We have asked for the School Governing Body to have meetings this week.
“We are always trying to make sure our children are safe as we have security on the school and the children know what the cellphone policy is,” Kannemeyer said.
Captain FC van Wyk confirms a case of assault was opened against the bully, but says no arrest has been made.
