The schoolgirl, who was beaten up by a fellow pupil, has now also been suspended, raising the ire of community organisations who say the “victim is being victimised”.
On Wednesday, Bronagh Hammond, the spokesperson for MEC for Education, Debbie Schäfer, confirmed both girls have been suspended.
“I can confirm that two Grade 10 learners have been suspended. A disciplinary hearing will be held later this week.”
The 16-year-old girls, who attend Beacon Hill Secondary in Mitchells Plain, are expected to attend a hearing of the School Governing Body on Saturday.
The alleged attacker is also expected to make her first appearance at the Mitchells Plain Juvenile Court today, after the victim opened a case of assault with police.
A video of the fight went viral, showing the victim being smacked, kicked and her hair being pulled.
She does not fight back and the fight stops when a school boy and a security guard intervene.

The teen told the Daily Voice she didn’t know why she was being attacked by her former friend.
The alleged attacker claimed the girl had threatened to moer her first and she retaliated.
The victim’s suspension has been met with outrage by community and organisations like Protect our Angels and the Mitchells Plain’s Impact Association.
According to the suspension letter, the teen will face disciplinary action for allegedly fighting on school premises, bringing the school’s name into disrepute and distributing the video.
Joanie Fredericks, of the MPIA, says: “It is clear that this girl didn’t want anything to do with the fight. She didn’t take the video. She is a victim who is being victimised by a school.”
The teen’s mother was not available for comment on Wednesday.
