It’s those habits that we create that really set the standard for how safe we are on the roads.
Bobby Nitro heard the closer you get to home, the more likely you’ll have an accident. It makes sense.
As you turn into the home stretch, you start to relax the focus, perhaps even speed up a little as you know every bump in the road and, well, it’s lekker to get home. That’s a dangerous combination, less focus and more speed, especially to the kids who might be playing with a ball in the road.
When Bobby heard this statistic, he noticed that if a change was to be made, he’d have to be the one to make that change. That meant thinking about doing things differently when he neared his house, purposely slow the car down and take the last stretch at a comfortable pace.
That way Bobby could spot those kids and their ball, because when you have kids and a ball, it’s better to assume they’ve got their eye on the ball and not on the road. The change begins with you.
