Now and again Bobby reflects on just how fast the years go by, like a GT-R at the 200m mark, or his salary by the 15th.
Des Fenner, General Manager for Datsun in SA, had a similar reflection when he said recently: “It’s hard to believe more than four years have passed since we re-entered South Africa with the affordable Datsun Go.”
And true to the success of the model, Datsun is marking the anniversary with the Datsun Go Special Version, aimed particularly at the young market.
The limited-edition hatchback will feature a Bluetooth and USB-enabled audio system, some silver and blue graphics on the bonnet (lekker stripes), roof and side panels, and silver accents on the interior.
Colour-coded door handles, mud flaps and an exhaust finisher will add a little more flair. After all, it’s the little things that make your cabbie stand out, plus of course some go-fast stripes.
The 1198cc engine and 5.2 litres per 100km consumption make it a wise choice for the young and sensible (if those two words can be used together). Datsun claims it’s one of the most affordable cars to own and run in SA.
The Special Version will retail for R135 900 on a special repayment plan of just R1 999 per month when financed through Datsun Financial Services. And it comes with a year’s insurance included. Bonus.
Fenner adds: “It’s attractively priced and has great features, and now, we have a Special Version with unique elements to make you stand out from the crowd. It’s a solid car, and in a short time, it has proven itself to be a worthy contender in the A segment.”
