With the new year in full swing, it’s a good time to remember we are not alone.
Now Bobby Nitro is not intimating there may be an alien invasion about to arrive, what he is saying is that when it comes to how we behave on the road, always remember we are not alone.
Fact is, 24 cyclists were killed on public roads in the Western Cape last year, as well as 70 motorcy- clists, 50 senior pedestrians and 80 children under 15.
So, as drivers, we need to know at all times that the roads are used not only by cars but by all, and this means we should stay alert, be wys, when hurtling down the road in our machines of steel.
It is the most vulnerable people in society who get hurt. And it’s wrong to speed, to drive under the influence, or without proper safety in place. When things go wrong, it’s the kids who feel it first. Change begins with you.
