Mujahid George is celebrating his 33rd birthday this year in the best way he knows how...concert style.
But due to Covid-19 regulations, he is forced to only sell 100 tickets for the live audience, although they will be VIP tickets.
Luckily, the concert will also be available online if you cannot make it into the venue.
This year the Boy from Bo-Kaap aims to supply nappies for a year to a boy who suffers from cerebral palsy.
George explains that due to Covid-19 he hasn't been able to see much of 14-year-old Alfonso from Pook se Bos, who needs all the help that he can get.
"Alfonso can't eat the way we do, he has a tube that was medically fitted straight to his stomach, because anything he swallows naturally will fall onto his lungs and will suffocate him,” explains George.
“But he is a happy child, surrounded by love and family and loves music. He is our main objective with this concert, others include bringing happiness to people during this time, remembering the loved ones we lost, and the strain this virus has placed on the world.”
George adds: “Since the beginning of this lockdown, I have taken a new approach to life.
“I aim to achieve, to love unconditionally, to forgive, to bless those who cross my path and to be my best self.
“I am so excited to work with the band and perform in front of people, even though it’s a small concert, I’m grateful, I can still do what I love and earn a living.
“(Singer) Crushanda Forbes will also make a turn and perform on the show, so I’m excited to hear her sing again.
“More surprises will be revealed on the day,” he adds.
The show will take place at the 44 On Long theatre in the Cape Town CBD.
“The concert will take place at a beautiful theatre that has been kind to us,” says George.
“While we were busy with online shows, and I think people are a bit gatvol of looking at us through a screen, so honestly speaking, I'm excited to perform in front of an audience again.”
The VIP Audience tickets cost R150 and only 100 people will be allowed into the venue.
You can also watch the show online for R80 per ticket available via www.quicket.co.za.
The show is on Sunday, 20 December 2020, and starts at 14H30. For more information, you can contact 083 220 9077.
