This week the President dropped a bombshell when he made six changes to his national executive - his second cabinet shake-up in just six months.
There was no warning, just like on March 30 (Munier’s birthday) when JZ made 14 changes - at midnight.
Who does that! Only a madman, a moron or a captured man.
That was the only
conclusion Munier could come to.
None of it makes sense, especially when one looks at the appointments.
Ayanda Dlodlo, who was named Minister of Communications just six months ago, has been named Minister of Home Affairs.
And Hlengiwe Mkhize, appointed Home Affairs Minister in the last reshuffle, is now Minister of Higher Education.
Mkhize replaced the axed Blade Nzimande in the most controversial of the moves, but more about that later.
After his latest game of ministerial musical chairs, all Zuma said was: “I thank the former members of the National Executive for good service in their previous portfolios.”
Good service in their previous portfolios?
They were there for six months. What could they have achieved or showed in that time to make them eligible for their new portfolios?
After the March reshuffle, the ANC leadership including Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa revealed they were not consulted on the changes.
But they respected the prerogative of the president.
This time ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe admitted he knew that changes were coming.
He also admitted the shake-up would cause instability in government.
Not just that, but the rand took a dive soon after the announcement.
It’s to be expected. And Zuma knows that. He just doesn’t care.
So why shuffle and reshuffle, knowing it’s going to cause repeated damage?
We know JZ is determined to push ahead with the nuclear deal with Russia.
Is that why David Mahlobo has been appointed the new
Minister of Energy?
We know why the prez sacked Nzimande - he is the secretary-general of the SACP.
For a while now there have been cracks in the tripartite alliance, with the commies and Cosatu speaking out against Zuma, the Guptas and state capture.
Any president would want to surround themselves with a team he can trust; people who share his vision - not detractors.
So in March Zuma entrusts two ministers with heading up the Home Affairs and Communications portfolios.
Then six months later he changes his mind?
This can only be the work of an incompetent man, a paranoid man or a captured man.
