If Lady Justice had lucky stars, then last week they must have been aligned.
Let’s start here at home, where our former president Jacob Zuma has lost the first round of his attempt to escape justice.
He wanted the KwaZulu-Natal High Court to stop the state from prosecuting him.
But instead the court ruled against him, finding that he must go on trial on 18 charges of fraud, corruption, money laundering and racketeering related to the Arms Deal.
The case against him and his co-accused, the French arms dealer Thales, is set to kick off this week.
Note that this hasn’t even got anything to do with Zuma’s suspicious relationship with the Gupta clan.

Speaking of which...
The infamous family has had their assets frozen by the American government this week.
The sanctions also apply to Gupta-family associate, Salim Essa.
It means that any property or interest in property within US jurisdiction is now blocked.
Plus here at home, our government is busy negotiating extradition treaties with several governments, including the USA, India and the UAE.
It’s hoped that this will lead to the eventual extradition of Ajay, Atul and Rajesh Gupta to come stand trial here on state capture charges.

Then there’s Julius Malema, whose alleged corrupt co-looting of VBS bank is being further exposed.
It turns out that a lot of the millions of rands stolen from the poorest of the poor may have landed up in Malema’s bank account, which he, of course, vehemently denies.
But the man lives exceptionally well for an ordinary MP, which again highlights our need for ongoing lifestyle audits for our office bearers.
IMPEACHMENT: President Donald Trump fears impeachment. Picture: Andrew Harnik/AP.
And lastly, America’s Toddler-in-Chief, Donald Trump has been losing his tweeting mind at the very real prospect of being impeached.
The inquiry about whether Trump should be impeached or not, is being led by Democratic lawmakers and have been barreling ahead since it was first announced.
And it all started because Trump asked the President of the Ukraine to investigate his presidential opponent Joe Biden’s business interest in that country, to damage his political chances in America’s upcoming elections, which Trump is very determined to win.
So it appears the chickens are coming home to roost for some of the most infamous people of our times.
Trying to sell themselves to a gullible electorate as saviours, while secretly lining their own pockets, was always going to backfire eventually.
I shouldn’t rejoice in the misfortune of others, but in this case I just simply cannot help myself.
