An alleged teen skollie was gunned down in Retreat on Monday in the same street where a one-year-old boy was killed last Tuesday.
The 18-year-old boy, believed to be a member of the Fast Guns gang, was shot and killed in Komlossy Street just before 9pm in Cafda.
The teen was shot multiple times and died on the scene.
The Fast Guns have been fighting rival gangs the Junky Funky Kidz and the Mongrels over turf.
Chairperson of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) for Steenberg Gavin Walbrugh says residents fear for their lives.
“The shootings have become out of hand and it’s worrying. As the CPF, we have appealed for more police visibility in the Cafda area. We are busy and will be addressing the issue of the sporadic shootings in the area,” Walbrugh said.
Last week, little Tashwell Junior Nel was shot in the head by unknown gunmen while sitting in his father’s car.
The toddler later died on arrival at hospital.
Police spokesman Constable Wesley Twigg confirmed the latest shooting and says no arrests have been made.
“Circumstances surrounding a shooting incident that occurred on Monday, 16 July at 8.55pm, whereby an 18-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded, are under investigation by Steenberg SAPS,” Twigg said.
Twigg appealed for anyone with information about the shooting to contact police.
“Anyone with any information about this fatal incident is kindly requested to contact Steenberg SAPS on 0217029000 or Crime Stop on 0860010111,” Twigg added.
