A warrant of arrest has been issued for one of the women implicated in the murder of six-month-old baby Zahnia Woodward of Ocean View.
Four other accused in the matter - Christopher September, Larry Johnson, Taswill Kreek and Morné May - made an appearance at the Cape High Court on Friday where they are facing charges of murder and attempted murder.
Fellow-accused, Miriam Johnson, 59, who is believed to be an accessory in the case along with Simaney Kido, also appeared.
The two women allegedly tried to hide the car, a white VW Golf, the killers were driving on the day Zahnia was killed.
The women are out on bail while the men remain in custody.
Kido failed to pitch at the courthouse and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.
An initial trial date for 6 September was set, but the court said this may change to an earlier date when pre-trial proceedings continue on 23 March 23.
Zahnia’s mother, Cindy Woodward, 20, who recently got engaged to the infant’s father, Bradley Robyn, left the courthouse feeling disappointed at yet another delay.
“They (prosecutors) are asking for an earlier date because September is too far away,” the young mom said.
Zahnia had been sitting on her father’s lap when gunmen opened fire on them in a drive-by shooting in December 2016.
Zahnia was shot in the head while Bradley and one of his friends were injured.
Cindy said she and Bradley were expected to tie the knot next year April.
