Two women from Brooklyn say police have failed them as they continue to live in fear of their backyard boarders who terrorise them on a daily basis.
The women, aged 40 and 47, who do not want to be named for fear of victimisation, say they have made multiple complaints to Maitland SAPS since last year but nothing has been done.
“The man living at the back of our home is on parole for a number of crimes but he has friends at the police department, so when we call them to come and help us then they either come hours after we call or they do not come at all,” the women say.
“We have protection orders against them, but they somehow convinced the police to organise orders for them against us even though we have done nothing.”
In videos sent to the Daily Voice, the women are seen entering the Maitland SAPS office asking for assistance but they are ignored by two cops until one says no vans are available.
In another video, the women hide in their home as men are heard swearing at them and throwing objects through the windows while the sound of crying children can also be heard.
“The man at the back physically assaulted a minor and when we went to the police, they just did not want to help us even though we showed them the protection order.
“The people must have been told that we were there because a few days later they broke the windows and were threatening us,” the scared women say.

They have since complained to the police ombudsman, while Independent Police Investigative Directorate spokesperson Grace Langa confirmed an ongoing investigation is underway, but was unable to comment on the status of the matter.
