Police have arrested two more people in connection with the murder of a six-month-old baby.
On Thursday three of the four men accused of the murder of baby Zhania Woodward appeared at the Simon’s Town Magistrates' Court.
Christopher September, Larry Johnson and Taswill Kriel were charged with murder and two charges of attempted murder.
The fourth accused will appear today on the same charges, after his arrest yesterday.
Kriel was arrested on Wednesday, Johnson handed himself over to cops in January, while September was nabbed shortly after the baby was shot in December.
Zhania’s mother, Cindy Woodward, 20, says the family welcomed the latest arrests.
“We are very relieved with the arrests of the other two accused,” she says.
“I also feel I want the case to be over with, as it gets very draining having to relive the trauma. My mother lost it at court yesterday as Christopher September smiled at people, she was so angry.
“It was hard for me to face them and I could not look up when they came up from the holding cells.”
On December 30, five men in a white VW Golf opened fire in Carnation Road, Ocean View. Six-month-old Zhania, who was sitting on her dad Bradley Robyn’s lap, was shot through the head, while bullets hit the dad, 24, in his upper thigh.
It is believed the intended target was a suspected merchant who lives across the road from where Bradley used to sit everyday with Zahnia, waiting for Cindy to come from work.
Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Eric Ntabazalila, says the matter has been postponed until March 8 for further investigation, when all the accused will appear together.
