Two men from Kalsteenfontein were shot and killed by two men, one on a bicycle, in Valhalla Park on Wednesday afternoon.
Anwar Abas, 27, and 22-year-old Tyron Isaacs were working on a black Volkswagen Golf parked in the road in Doreen Street.
According to witnesses, the mechanics were removing parts from the car to use on another one.
Just before 4pm, a man on a bike and another on foot came up to them and opened fire.
One of the victims ran into a yard, but was chased down and shot.
Both men were shot multiple times, in the head and face, and died on the scene.
A resident tells the Daily Voice: “They were busy with the black Golf and the runner and the guy on the bike drove up and just shot at them.
“One still tried to run away into the yard, but they chased him and shot him as well.
“It was terrible. Their faces were shot off.
“Then the shooters just ran and rode off again.”
Both Abas and Isaacs are from Gloxinia Street in Kalsteenfontein.
Police spokeswoman, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, says a case of double murder is being investigated.
“A double murder that occurred on Wednesday in Valhalla Park is under investigation,” she says.
“Two men, aged 25 and 26 years old, were shot and fatally wounded by two unidentified suspects who are yet to be arrested.”
