Three alleged drug merts are behind bars after Manenberg cops raided their homes during the early hours on Friday.
Police say the clampdown led by deputy provincial commissioner, Major-General Mpumelelo Manci, resulted in the arrest of two Fancy Boys and a member of the Americans gang.
The joint operation, which included SAPS, Metro Police and Law Enforcement, saw a large contingent conducting high-visible patrols across the Nyanga Cluster and 26 drug houses were searched.
In Gamka Street, police arrested two Fancy Boys, aged 33 and 28, who were found in possession of 30 units of heroin and in Zuurberg Street, Heideveld a 48-year-old American was found in possession of 24 units of tik.
All three men were charged for drug dealing and will appear in the Athlone Magistrate's Court on Monday.
Meanwhile, two Metro Police K9 officers sniffed out drugs with a street value of nearly R60 000 in Delft on Friday night.
According to Metro Police’s Sergeant Ruth Solomons, the officers executed a search warrant at a home in Voorbrug where they found the huge stash just before 7pm.
“One of the canines led his colleagues to 301 mandrax tablets and 34 units of tik with a street value of R9 710.
“A second canine found 1 239 mandrax tablets, 62 bankies of tik and 87 tik straws hidden among the reeds in a vlei close to the property, with a street value of R46 360.
“A 21-year-old suspect was detained at Delft Police Station on a charge of drug dealing,” she says.
