Table View SAPS are investigating a culpable homicide case following the death of a 16-year-old teen meisie from Zwelitsha Informal Settlement yesterday.
Lisa Dyasi was hit by a Toyota Quantum van while crossing Malibongwe Drive near Du Noon to catch a taxi to school at about 7am.
Police spokesperson, Joseph Swartbooi, says: “Cops found the body of an unknown girl who was knocked over by a Toyota Quantum.
“The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel.
“Table View Police registered a case of culpable homicide for further investigation.”
He says no arrests have been made yet.
A shocked resident said they heard a loud bang and rushed to check, only to find a bleeding body lying on the road and it was unclear how the accident happened.
“We don’t know how it happened but it is very sad that another life has been lost.
“We know this is a new place but at least the government must consider putting some traffic calming here.
“Taxis stand on the other side and we cross during busy hours of the morning, with merciless motorists speeding non-stop.
“The place is very dangerous and it is unfortunate another family has lost their child.”
The body was removed just after 8am by the forensic and the relatives broke down at the scene and covered the blood stains with sand.
Devastated family and neighbours gathered at the deceased’s home and were too shocked to speak.
