The girl was reportedly outside her home in 12th Avenue where she lives when alleged members from the Bad Boys gang shot at her.
The girl is believed to be the daughter of the leader of the G-Units gang in the area and became a target because the two rival gangs are currently at war, sources say.
Residents say there have been sporadic reports of shootings in the area over the past few weeks, but on Tuesday, it went on the entire day.
A resident, who did not want to be named, told Daily Voice: “After the girl was shot it just got worse. The shooting went on way into the night and started up again this morning.
“We are not safe as long as the gangsters fight,” she said.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says according to their report, the meisie was 13 years old.
