President Cyril Ramaphosa has opted to freeze salary increases for his cabinet and other political office bearers for a second year in a row.
Last year, Ramaphosa urged ministers and MPs to donate a portion of their salaries to the Covid-19 Solidarity Fund for three months.
A government gazette notice stated that Ramaphosa’s salary will be kept at R2.99 million while his deputy David Mabuza will retain a R2.85m pay cheque.
Ministers will take home R2.4m and their deputies will still earn R1.97m.
