Five people accused of killing six-month-old Zahnia Woodward will know their fate next week.
The State and counsel for the defence yesterday concluded closing arguments in the Western Cape High Court.
Christopher September, Larry Johnson, Tashwill Kriel, Morné May and Mirriam Johnson face charges of murder, attempted murder and obstruction of justice.
Mirriam’s niece, Simoney Kindo, was also charged with obstruction of justice for getting rid of the car used in the drive-by shooting.
Kindo is serving four years after pleading guilty and testifying for the State.
On 30 December 2016, Zahnia was shot in the head while sitting on her father Bradley Robyn’s lap outside their home in Carnation Road, Ocean View, while waiting for her mom Cindy Woodward to arrive home from work.
Bradley and two of his friends were shot and injured as well.
Three eyewitnesses placed the four male accused at the scene of the shooting.
One female witness, whom the defence have accused of sleeping with all four men to support her drug habit, was adamant that they were all shooting from the white Volkswagon Golf belonging to Larry September.
Mirriam Johnson this week testified that she had no knowledge of the shooting incident and only got rid of her son’s car because he said she would get into trouble.
She said September and two men came to her house to clean guns after the shooting.
The men have all pleaded not guilty, claiming they were not in Ocean View at the time of the shooting.
The case has been postponed to Thursday.
