Murder accused Corrine Jackson has been given a month to consult with her legal team before her trial can fully begin.
Her trial was supposed to start at the Mitchells Plain Regional Court on Wednesday, but has been postponed to 5 September.
She is out on R5 000 bail and was accompanied by her family.
The court heard Jackson’s legal team needed time to consult with her.
Prosecutors are set to prove she planned the murder of her estranged girlfriend, Nadine Esterhuizen, 18, and stabbed her 21 times.
She allegedly also tried cutting the teen’s head off at a house in Colorado Park in September 2017.
Jackson claimed she acted in self-defence.
Nadine had a protection order and opened a case of assault against Jackson after she allegedly beat her at Strandfontein Pavilion leaving her with a cracked skull and threw her phone in the sea.
