The trial of the man accused of the murder of three-year-old Courtney Pieters was postponed in the Western Cape High Court on Monday.
Murder accused Mortimer Saunders had previously admitted to giving the toddler ant poison before later strangling her at her Elsies River home in May last year.
The case was postponed to Wednesday due to the State needing more time to analyse forensic reports which were only received on Sunday.
Her body was found in a shallow grave in Epping Industria on 13 May and Saunders was arrested the following day.
Saunders, who was a tenant at the family’s home, has admitted to strangling the child after poisoning her.
He has denied raping her, but has admitted to penetrating her using his fingers after the murder.
