Murder accused Corrine Jackson wants access to her cellphone as her trial is set to begin.
This was revealed at the Mitchells Plain Regional Court on Wednesday.
Jackson is out on
R5000 bail.
Her legal counsel, Advocate Mia from the office of William Booth Attorneys, asked the State to hand over Jackson’s cellphone which was confiscated last year after her arrest.
Advocate Mia said the cellphone would give them more insight into the matter while consul-
ting with their client.
He added the investigating officer could not be reached yet to obtain the cellphone.
The State then ordered that the investigating officer be contacted so that the cellphone can be handed over.
The matter was postponed to 17 October.
The State is set to prove Jackson killed her estranged girlfriend, Nadine Esterhuizen, 18, in September 2017 at a house in Colorado Park, Mitchells Plain.
She also allegedly pretended to be Nadine on the same day while chatting to Nadine’s sister.
A calm-looking Jackson walked out of the courthouse accompanied by friends and family.
It’s alleged Jackson planned the murder and stabbed Nadine 21 times and also tried to cut her head off.
While taking the witness stand in her bail application, Jackson claimed she acted in self-defence and was left with wounds to her abdomen, hand and neck.
It was also revealed that she had a “love for sharp weapons” and owned replicas of Samurai swords.
Nadine had a protection order against Jackson.
