South Africa’s newest Lotto millionaire is all the way from the Cape Flats.
And if you live in Retreat and surrounds, it could be your neighbour who is now rolling in the kroon.
The man, in his fifties, joined the list of instant millionaires after he won the R21.6 million Lotto jackpot.
He had spent R30 on his winning Quick Pick ticket at Kenilworth Racing at Retreat Mall earlier this month.
After discovering that he had won, the father kept his ticket in his wallet and only confided in his son about his good fortune.
The man is planning to invest most of the money to provide a better future for his children, said Zukiswa Nomnganga of national lottery operator, Ithuba Holdings.
“The excited family man confessed to Ithuba that he never thought he would win as he had been playing the lottery for many years and had never won anything before, though he had been always hopeful,” she said.
The winner is planning his retirement, and is hoping to start his own business.
He told Ithuba: “Education is important to me and with these winnings, I will be able to provide the best education for my children.”
“You have no idea what kind of a huge difference this will make to my life and that of my family.”
Nomnganga said Ithuba provided winners with financial advice to ensure they have all the knowledge and resources to cope with their new wealth.
