Three people have been arrested for the shooting at a 21st birthday party at the weekend.
The incident left a 24-year-old woman dead and seven others injured.
Police spokesman Colonel André Traut says: “The execution of the 72-hour Activation Plan following the attack on party-goers in Mandalay on Saturday evening led to the arrest of three suspects.
“A 24-year-old female was killed and seven others aged between five and 26 were injured when the occupants of a Honda Ballade shot at the victims in Montclair Drive in what is believed to be a gang-related incident.
“In pursuit of the suspects, Anti-Gang Unit detectives conducted a tracing operation last night and arrested the suspects, aged 22, 35 and 38, who are all from Mitchells Plain.
“Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their court appearances in Mitchells Plain on charges of murder and attempted murder.”
Premier Alan Winde has applauded the police on the arrests.
“We welcome the swift arrest of three suspects... and we will be looking to find out what proactive steps crime intelligence will be taking to prevent this horrific incident from repeating itself.
“We cannot allow our communities to live in a constant state of fear and to be terrorised by gangsters.”
MEC for Community Safety Albert Fritz adds that they will monitor court proceedings.
“My Department will be opening a court watching brief unit to monitor these court processes to ensure that this matter is not simply struck off the court roll.
“We want convictions. We want to make sure people pay for their crimes.”
