The mosque in Colorado Park in Mitchells Plain, where a mic was stolen by a brazen skelm last week, has now released more footage, this time of a skelm who stole shoes from the foyer while the men prayed.
After prayers, confused patrons went to the management at the mosque to tell them their shoes were missing and asked for CCTV footage to be viewed.
While the thief could clearly be seen on the footage, no one could identify him, unlike last week’s skelm who was known to the community.
The second video has now also gone viral with a request to identify the bearded man stealing the skoene.
A mosque committee member at Masjidul Irshaad in Rosewood Drive said the guys at the mosque had requested the footage and they were shocked when they saw the dief entering the mosque and taking shoes.
“It is very disturbing that people would enter a place of worship and steal from people in the sight of the Almighty. It is blasphemous,” the member said on Thursday.
The man, who stole the mic on Friday shortly before jumu’ah prayers, was piemped by his own family after they recognised him on the video.
Nadeem Stouffers, from City Wide Secure, a security company in the area, says they handed him over to Lentegeur SAPS.
“When we got to the address, he first said the mosque owed him money for a job he had done, but later he admitted to what he had done,” he said.
