A 65-year-old man may be the latest alleged serial rapist in the Cape after being slapped with 15 counts of rape involving six victims as far as Ladismith and Gouda.
Herman Harker is currently on trial at the Cape High Court where he pleaded not guilty to rape, kidnapping and sexual assault.
The youngest victim is nine-years-old and parts of the trial is expected to be held in camera.
The State is set to prove that Harker’s alleged reign of terror took place between 2015 and 2018 in towns such as Gouda, Ladismith, Stellenbosch and Eerste River.
He allegedly approached his victims under the pretence of looking for someone to walk him halfway to his destination and then threatening them.
Some of the victims were raped more than once.
In one incident he allegedly kidnapped a 13-year-old girl and forced her to walk with him where he threatened her using a weapon and then raped her near Koelenhof Station in Stellenbosch in June 2018.
Regarding the nine-year-old, Harker allegedly raped her in Ladismith on 11 August 2018, after he lured her away from a relative with the promise of money if she walked with him.
The trial continues.
