Uitsig residents made a grim discovery over the weekend when they found the burnt body of a woman in a rubbish dump.
Community worker, Pastor Adam Alexander, says residents rushed to extinguish what they thought was rubbish alight in Vinca Road on Saturday night. but got a skrik when they saw a woman’s feet through the flames.
“It was just after 9pm when we saw the fire. Because the people often dump their rubbish here in Vinca Road everyone thought it was rubbish that was on fire, but when they saw feet they got a skrik,” Alexander says.
He says Ravensmead police were called to the scene and the fire was extinguished, but the woman was already dead.
Residents watched in horror as officials carried the charred body of the woman away.

“She was burnt beyond recognition,” says the pastor.
“You could see she had a jeans on and her face was burnt off.
“We don’t know if she was killed somewhere else and dumped here or if there was a small fire and the people who had done this saw an opportunity and threw her in the fire.
“But this is not the first time a body is dumped here. This is the third time.
“Last year the residents found the body of a man whose hands were tied and he was shot through the head. It was terrible.”
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel André Traut, confirms the body of a woman between the 20 and 30 years old was found.
“The circumstances surrounding the death of the deceased is unknown at this stage.”
