Convicted killer Yagyah Robyn has been sentenced to 30 years in jail for the rape and murder of his cousin, Camron Britz, 14, of Ocean View.
As Robyn was led down to the court holding cells after his sentencing at the Western Cape High Court on Wednesday, his father Sharief Robyn verbally attacked the investigating officer, Sergeant Moeketsi Raphala, blaming him for his son’s imprisonment.
“You have the wrong person, you are going to pay for this, I am going to come for you, this is not a threat,” he threatened.
Family members of Robyn’s shouted at the father in court to “leave it” while the officer walked away.
Robyn’s mother, Moneeba, collapsed outside court in the corridors, screaming, “My child!”

Judge Yasmin Shenaz Meer took less than 20 minutes to study the probation report and sentence the 20-year-old killer.
The report was compiled with input from the State, an expert from the prison, the investigating officer, Robyn’s family and Camron’s relatives.
Robyn sat calmly in the dock and showed no emotion.
He was dressed in a navy tracksuit top, without the fez that he usually wears.
Judge Meer said she had to consi-
der various factors when sentencing Robyn, adding life imprisonment was not an option for her due to Robyn’s young age.
She said he came from a stable family background, ma-
king him a possible candidate for rehabilitation.
Meer sentenced Robyn to 20 years behind bars for rape, of which 10 years was suspended, and 20 years for murder.
The sentences would run concurrently.
During his verdict in June, Robyn was found not guilty of anal penetration.
While reading the probation report, Meer noted that Robyn was expelled in Grade 11 and worked at Cape Point as a ticket sales operator, and thereafter as a surfing instructor and municipal cleaner.
She said Camron’s mother, Berenice Britz, had forgiven Robyn when she took the witness stand during mitigation and aggravation of sentencing, even though he and his family had shown no remorse for her daughter’s death.
Outside court, Berenice said she finally had closure and thanked the State and the investigating officer for putting her child’s killer away.
“I have peace now, I can move on with my life. I want to thank Liezl Herbst and Raphala for the job they did, I am satisfied.”
Robyn had lured Camron away from a galley fire in Ocean View on 1 July 2017, under the pretence that her father was calling her.

Camron’s half-naked body was found the next day in bushes along Slangkop Street in Ocean View.
She had been raped, strangled to death and river weed had been shoved into her mouth.
Meanwhile, Robyn will go on trial at the Wynberg Regional Court in October for the alleged sexual assault of three minors.
