Two brazen burglars from Parkwood are behind bars after they were caught red-handed walking with a stolen flatscreen TV in Grassy Park on Tuesday.
Police station commander, Colonel Dawood Laing, says the skelms were spotted shortly after noon carrying their loot but wakker neighbours piemped them to police.
“On Tuesday, officers from the Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) were on their way to conduct a visit at a local school when they heard a report on the radio about a break-in,” he says.
“The suspects had broken into a house in Granite Close and were walking over a field near Klip Road making their way to Parkwood.”

He says officers responded immediately and found the skelms, aged 25 and 26, taking a lekker walk across the open veldjie.
“They didn’t even conceal the items they were walking with, a big flatscreen TV, in broad daylight,” he says.
“When they saw the officers they dropped the goods and ran, but the officers caught up with them and arrested them.”
Laing explains that once at the station the men were profiled and were found not to be gangsters. Cops found them with the stolen 49 inch Toshiba TV, two cellphones, a laptop, a blow-up bed, an imitation firearm and expensive jackets from Markhams.
“Later in the day the homeowner came to the station to report the burglary,” says Laing.
“Nobody was at home at the time of the incident and the goods are valued at R16 000.
“I commended the community for working with the police and the members for their swift response.

He says the men were very brazen with this break-in and intended to store the goods at their homes.
He says the skelms will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Thursday on charges of burglary and possession of stolen goods.
