Bail has been denied for triple murder accused Craig Stanfield.
On Wednesday, Judge Derek Willie at the Cape High Court ruled that Stanfield, 36, had failed to prove exceptional circumstances to be granted bail.
He had been out on parole when he was nabbed for the murder of three men, including well-known gospel singer Wilton Fredericks, 31, in June 2017 while they stood next to a white bakkie in Ferel Street, Bishop Lavis.
Stanfield had been convicted of the possession of a firearm in February 2014 and had received a five-year sentence, of which two years were suspended.
He spent 18 months in jail and was arrested for the murders during the period of the suspension.
These, Judge Willie said, were aggravating reasons why Stanfield could not be released on bail.
Stanfield together with Abraham Wilson, the father of serial killer Cameron Wilson, Lorenzo Macoba and Fabian Botha are facing murder charges at the Bishop Lavis Magistrate's Court.
The three others were granted bail in December 2018.
The case resumes in April.
Stanfield is the cousin of alleged 28s gang boss, Ralph Stanfield, and is also allegedly a member of the same gang.
