A young mother says she is a nervous wreck after a man who had allegedly been stalking her threatened to kidnap and shoot her ill five-year-old son.
Peyton Fortune, 21, says for three years, the Somali man has been demanding sex and naked pictures from her.
She says she was forced to move, but he has managed to track her down and is now threatening to hurt her son, who has leukaemia.
“I was living in Athlone and met him when they opened a shop in our street,” she says.
“When I went to the shop, I was nice and greeted him, but things got out of hand. He somehow got my number and started asking me to send him naked pictures and to have sex with him and he wanted to give me money.”
She says when she refused, he tried to extort R20 000 from her.
“He started creating fake Facebook accounts, adding my friends and family pretending to be me. He knew when my grandma left the house to go to the mall, then he’d come to the house and rattle on the door for me to open, but I never did,” Peyton explains.
FAKE: Facebook account
She says when they piemped him to his boss, the man lost his “R17 000-a-month” job.
She eventually moved, but he found out where she lived: “He asked people who knew me for information about me.”
She says on Saturday, he called her and allegedly threatened her son.
“He calls from different numbers. He is demanding we pay him R20 000 and if not, he will post naked pictures of me on social media. He told me he will get me and knows when my son needs to go to Red Cross Hospital. He threatened to kidnap and shoot him,” the anguished mom says.
In a cellphone recording, allegedly between Peyton’s relative and Mohamed, he can be heard saying: “I have pictures and videos of her. I gave her half price on the child. I am not going to make a long thing. Give me R15k and we can meet now.”
DEMANDS: Stalker wants his R20 000... or else
The relative says: “Let’s meet. I will send an address.”
The man answers: “If you’re not there, you will see. I am done speaking. I am taking the child and I want R25 000.”
“I am anxious, nervous, I hardly sleep. I already have so much on my plate with my son and his weekly visits to the hospital. I have gone to the police, but they say there’s not much they can do. I just want everything to stop,” she cries.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, urged the mother to open a case with the police so that an investigation can be launched.
“If she needs more assistance, she must speak to the station management (station commander and detective commander),” Rwexana adds.
Daily Voice tried contacting the man, but his numbers are no longer in service.
