A teen girl from
Hanover Park is lucky to be alive after being struck by a gang bullet on
Wednesday night.
Residents in Cascade Court say heartless
skollies opened fire on the girl and her friend as they walked home from a shop.
The 18-year-old meisie, who asked not to be named, says the incident happened shortly after 10pm.
“I went to the shop to buy cigarettes for my mother when the two guys came over. Me and my friend were looking at videos on the phone.
“There were klomp skote and the one guy’s gun jammed. I shouted at him that we are girls, but they just shot again.”
Her 59-year-old mother says she ran when she heard the shots.
“I was thinking, ‘ yoh, here my child dies on my birthday’, but she is so lucky,” the mom says.
“She was hit three times, but the two shots are only flesh wounds. The one bullet is still in her back because the doctors say they cannot risk taking it out now.”

Angry residents say the ongoing war between four rival gangs in the area has them living in fear.
“The Americans,
Pitbulls and Derwent Kidz have all teamed up against the Ghetto Kidz.
“You can’t even say it’s about turf anymore because they shoot like mad every night,” says a resident.
Police spokesperson, Siyabulela Malo, confirms the incident and says no arrests have been made yet.
