Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula yesterday said no taxis or e-hailing services will be allowed to operate during the national 21-day lockdown.
And Police Minister Bheki Cele warned that no dog walks, jogging, buying of dop and purchasing of food from restaurants will be allowed either.
Mbalula said no e-hailing services, including Uber and Bolt, will be permitted to operate.
He said his department was planning an afternoon and a morning shift to allow essential service workers to catch public transport during the lockdown.
“A lockdown is a lockdown. They (buses, taxis, Uber and bolt) will not be operating,” he said.
“There will be special arrangements for public transport in terms of taxis. We are looking at allocating time for taxis in the morning and afternoon.
“During the day, it is a lockdown. Trains, we are looking at none at all. Long-distance trains will not be operating. We are looking at intensifying the lockdown in terms of aviation.

Cele added: “There shall be no dogs that shall be walked,” adding that people should walk their dogs at home. This was also extended to jogging.
He said the previous regulations which allowed liquor stores, taverns, shisanyamas, pubs and clubs, to open between 9am and 6pm on Mondays to Saturdays and 9am to 1pm on Sundays, were no more.
He said people would be allowed to suip in their homes, but not outside of their homes to avoid havoc during the lockdown.
“For 21 days, please stay sober,” said Cele.
The strict measures came as Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize on Wednesday said the number of confirmed cases of the Covid-19 now stands at 709.
Mkhize said the largest increases emanate from Gauteng which saw a jump of 64 cases overnight, followed by the Western Cape with 61 cases and KwaZulu-Natal at 11 and the Free State with 15 new cases.
