A Mitchells Plain woman is desperately trying to find her missing dog after it ran away last week.
Tarryn Poggenpoel, 32, from Eastridge, says her two-year-old pit bull, called London, was lured to the gate by a passerby and got stuck between the bars before breaking loose and running off in distress.

“On Monday night a man was walking his dog. He wanted his pit bull to fight with London and so he pulled my dog through the gate,” says Tarryn, who owns two pit bulls, London and Cassie, London’s mother.
“She was stuck in there and cried loudly until neighbours heard her and came running out.
“They couldn’t do anything because my gate was locked.
“The neighbours say London finally broke loose after being stuck halfway outside the gate and ran away, looking hurt and distressed.”

Tarryn says the man walked away, but was identified by someone who said he lived in the area.
“I went to his house that night with the police and he was so drunk,” she says.
“They told me to make a case the next morning, but when I went to the station the police told me there is nothing they can do because he no longer has my dog.
“What if she bit him, then the police would’ve put her down, but now they say they can’t do anything. My dogs are my life, they are all I have,” the young woman says.
She has put up a R1 000 reward for the safe return of her hond. London is chocolate brown and white.
