Grassy Park police needs the assistance of the public after an elderly man suffering from dementia went missing on Saturday.
James Davids from Lotus River has wandered off and his family thinks he may be in or around the Southern Suburbs of the city.
Dementia causes deterioration in memory, thinking, behaviour and the ability to perform everyday activities.
Grassy Park Police Station commander, Colonel Dawood Laing, says they have been looking everywhere for James.
“We have taken his wife to Southfield. My guys have been to Wynberg. We’ve looked at the morgues and at the hospitals.
“James suffers from dementia and it is interesting that nobody has seen him.
“We looked in Constantia where it was alleged he could have been.
“We have posted this case on all the sites, but unfortunately he has not been found yet,” Laing said.
It is not the first time James has gone missing.
GONE: James Davids
“The uncle went missing in August this year as well, but he was found in Southfield and that’s perhaps why his wife thinks he could be in that area.
“But he suffers from dementia and could have walked in any direction.”
James is bald with brown eyes, is 1.74m tall and is slightly built.
It is not clear what he was wearing when he disappeared.
