A MitchellsPlain ouma says she is at her wits’ end after her neighbour has refused to refund her R2 600 for a kitchen cupboard he failed to install in March.
Charmaine Vlotman, from Lebombo Street in Tafelsig, says she trusted her neighbour, who is also a pastor.
“In March, I went over to Shaun Mullins and gave him R2 600 after he quoted me R3 000 to build a kitchen top island in my open plan kitchen. I would have paid the balance of the money at the end of the month.
“I trusted him because he and his father did my kitchen cupboards a few years ago,” Charmaine explains.
She says Shaun then started making excuses.
“First he told me the island was at his house and he just needs to finish off. Then he told me because he had to build his church at the house, he stored the island somewhere else.

“Then I just never saw him. He didn’t answer his calls, and when I went to his house. He said he was coming that weekend, but never came.”
The last straw was when she saw him on Heritage Day.
“We were having a braai, and Shaun drove past and shouted: ‘Auntie Charmaine, I’ll see you now’. But he never came.
“I told him I just want my money back, but then he says he has to charge me labour. Labour for what? I then have nothing,” she says.
When the Daily Voice contacted Shaun on Tuesday, he claimed the island was at a storage facility.

“I gave her the reason for the delays and the guy where I stored the stuff was never at home,” he says.
“I will be collecting it in Bellville at the storage. I must still take it out and still assemble it, but I will sort it out.”
